Dickens Window

Apart from popping my head round the door, I've been missing from the shop for three weeks, looking after grandchildren (a change is as good as a rest, they say, and I really had a great time)

I was delighted to see, on my return, a terrific window for the Charles Dickens bi-centenary.

The quill pen and writing desk belong to David who has not quite moved into the digital age.  *

There's a showy arrangement in the shop too with some audio discs due in any day now.

The big sellers are the Clare Tomalin hardback biog, Dickens: A Life and, not far behind, her The Invisible Woman: The Story of Nelly Ternan and Charles Dickens, in paperback.

The Wicked Wit of Charles Dickens is packed full of humourous quotes and is also selling well.

Don't forget our special 3 for 2 offer on the classy 'Collector's Library' hardbacks too.

(*In truth, the quill is on loan from Grimes House - many thanks!)

What Larks!

2012 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens and, throughout February, we will be giving you the opportunity to collect his works in the fine quality 'Collector's Library' editions on a special 3 for 2 offer.

These books really are amazing value with quality paper, gold edged pages and a marker ribbon.

Pop by and give our window a look now.

Jack Ludlow/David Donachie

New in at Cotswold Bookstore are a few of Jack Ludlow's books set in ancient Rome and Byzantium.

Tales of honour and corruption, power and conquest, they are real page turners.

You may know him under his real name of David Donachie.

There is a selection of books under both names, again at the reduced price of £3.99. (Limited numbers)

Penny Jordan/Annie Groves

We were sorry to hear that Penny Jordan, prolific author of popular romances set in modern times, died at the end of last year.
She had a huge output under various names (Caroline Courtney and Melinda Wright among them) but, in Cotswold Bookstore, we know her mainly for her wartime romances set in Liverpool which were written under the name of Annie Groves.

They have always been very popular but, if you've not tried them, look in, for we have many of them on our £3.99 shelves (reduced from £6.99)

Sunday closing

A Happy New Year to all our good friends and we hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas (and that not all of you received a Kindle from Santa!)

Please note that from now, till April, the shop will be closed on Sundays.
